Sunwake

Sunwake Support

Sunwake turns your iPhone into a sunrise alarm clock: a sunset in the evening, a gentle sunrise in the morning, and an alarm that rings even when the app is closed. Here you find help when something doesn’t work, and answers about your iPhone on the nightstand, your alarms, the free trial and purchases.

Troubleshooting

There was no sunrise on the screen this morning
The sunrise only shows while Sunwake stays open and your iPhone stays unlocked. If you pressed the side button or opened another app, the screen stays dark; your alarm rings anyway. If you open Sunwake again, the running night comes back, up to an hour after the wake time. For the next night: sideways on the charger, keep the app open, don’t lock it.
I can’t tap “Good night”
“Good night” starts the night for the next alarm that is on within the next 24 hours. If there is none, the button is off and Sunwake shows “No alarm on in the next 24 hours.” Switch on an alarm in the list or add a new one with plus at the top.
The screen says “Please plug in the charger”
Sunwake shows this at night when your iPhone isn’t charging. The screen stays on all night, so keep your iPhone on the charger.
My alarm didn’t ring
Check that the alarm is switched on in the list and that Sunwake may set alarms. iOS asks when you set your first alarm; you find the permission in the iOS Settings for Sunwake. Without it Sunwake can’t save an alarm and switches it off. An alarm without weekdays rings once and then switches itself off, like in the Clock app.
The real sky shows no weather
Check in this order: you have Sunwake Pro, or the trial is running. “Real sky” is on in this alarm, because each alarm has its own switch. Sunwake knows a place: below the switch, tap “Use my location” or “Choose place”. If you declined location access, choose a city or tap “Open Settings”. Sunwake loads the weather over the internet when the night starts and again about 90 minutes before the sunrise. Without a connection the sky in the scene stays clear, and your alarm rings anyway.

Sunrise alarm clock FAQ

How do I set up my iPhone for the night?
Stand your iPhone sideways on the charger next to your bed, open Sunwake and tap “Good night”. Keep the app open and don’t lock your iPhone. Only then can Sunwake slowly brighten the screen in the morning. Your iPhone keeps charging.
Does the alarm ring even if the app is closed?
Yes. Every alarm you switch on is a real iPhone alarm. It rings at the set time, even if Sunwake was closed during the night or you never started “Good night”. The sunrise on the screen only appears while the app is open. When you set your first alarm, allow Sunwake to set alarms. If you declined, you can find the permission in the iOS Settings for Sunwake.
How do I end the night?
In the morning, a tap ends the night and stops a ringing alarm. Before that, touch and hold the screen briefly and Sunwake asks “End the night?”. Your alarm stays on.
How do I restore my purchases?
Tap the gear at the top left, then “Restore Purchases”. On the purchase page you find “Restore” at the bottom. Use the same Apple Account you bought Sunwake Pro with. With Family Sharing, Pro also works for your family.
What happens after the free trial?
The trial lasts 7 days and ends by itself. Nothing is charged and there is nothing to cancel, because it is not a subscription. After that, the real sky and the Pro worlds such as Dunes and Mountains lock again. Alarm, sunset, starry night, sunrise and the Sea world keep working. If you want to keep Pro, you buy it once.
When are the event worlds available?
Event worlds appear by themselves in the alarm’s Landscape picker around their dates and disappear afterwards: Halloween from late October, Christmas and Snowy Hill from December. They are part of Sunwake Pro. On Halloween and on Christmas Eve the matching world is free for everyone. If a chosen event world is over, the Sea world runs that night.
Why does Sunwake ask for my location?
Only for the real sky with Pro or during the trial: your approximate location goes to Apple Weather so that clouds, rain, snow, moon and season in the scene match where you are. Without it the sky stays clear and your alarm still rings. More in the privacy policy.
How do I get a refund?
Apple handles refunds for App Store purchases. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
