Sunwake: Sunrise alarm clock for iPhone

Sunwake turns your iPhone into a gentle light alarm: a slow sunset to fall asleep, and a sunrise before your alarm.

Coming soon to the App Store Download on the App Store See how it works

Free with the Sea world. Sunwake Pro is a one-time purchase with a 7-day free trial that ends by itself. No account, no ads, no tracking. For iPhone with iOS 26.1 or later.

Sunwake in the morning: sunrise in the Sea world, the sun above the water and the sky warm and bright.

How it works

A sunrise alarm clock in three steps

Set your alarms like in the Clock app, stand your iPhone next to your bed, and let a sunrise simulation wake you up gently. A light alarm without an extra lamp: the light comes from your iPhone screen.

  1. The alarm list in Sunwake: two alarms in retro LED digits, each with label, weekdays, world and sunrise length, and the Good night button. Editing an alarm in Sunwake: the time wheel, then one row each for repeat, world, sunset, sunrise and tone, then real sky and label.

    Set your alarms as usual

Time, weekdays and a label, just like the Clock app. Each alarm gets its own world, its own sunset (off, 10, 20 or 30 minutes) and its own sunrise (10, 20 or 30 minutes).

Alarms that are on always ring, even if the app is closed or you never tapped “Good night”.

  2. Sunset in the Dunes world: the sun sinks behind the sand while a camel caravan crosses the ridge. The night screen: a black sky with stars, the moon and a faint red clock in retro LED digits above the dunes.

    Tap “Good night”

In the evening, stand your iPhone sideways on the charger next to your bed and tap “Good night”. The sun sets slowly and works like a soft night light while you fall asleep, until the screen is black. Then it stays dark all night.

At night you see stars, now and then a shooting star, the moon in its real phase and a faint red night clock in retro LED style, like a bedside clock on your nightstand.

  3. Sunrise in the Sea world: the sun just above the horizon, its light on the water. Later in the same sunrise: the sun higher and the sky warm and bright.

    Wake up with the sun

Before your alarm the sun rises slowly and the screen keeps getting brighter, like a sunrise simulator on your bedside table. At your wake time it reaches full brightness and your alarm rings.

In the morning, a tap ends the night and stops a ringing alarm.

Good to know. Keep Sunwake open at night and don’t lock your iPhone. iOS doesn’t let apps turn the screen on by themselves, so this is the only way Sunwake can brighten it in the morning. Your alarms ring either way. Keep your iPhone on the charger all night.

Want to see it first? “Preview (20 s)” shows a whole night in 20 seconds, and “Test with alarm (2 min)” plays a night with its alarm in 2 minutes.

Worlds

A sunrise world for every alarm

Each alarm has its own illustrated world for sunset, night and sunrise. Sea is free for everyone. Sunwake Pro adds every other world.

Real sky

Your weather, your moon, your season

Rain, snow, clouds and fog in your morning scene, matching the weather where you live or in a city you choose. The moon rises and sets at its real times, and Mountains and Sea follow the season.

The weather only changes the scene, never the screen brightness.

The free trial

Try Pro free for 7 days. The trial ends by itself and nothing is charged. There is nothing to cancel, because it is not a subscription.

After that, the real sky and every world except Sea lock again, and your alarms carry on with Sea. Everything under Free keeps working. If you want to keep Pro, you buy it once.

Privacy

Your nights stay on your iPhone

Sunwake works without an account and without servers of its own. The app sends no data to us.

No account

You never sign up or log in. Your alarms and settings stay on your iPhone, and we never see them.

No ads, no tracking

No analytics, advertising or tracking tools in the app. Purchases and the trial are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store.

Location only for the real sky

Only with Pro or the trial, and only while the real sky is on: your approximate location, rounded to about a kilometre, goes to Apple Weather. You can choose a city by hand instead; the city search uses Apple Maps. Without it the sky stays clear and your alarm still rings.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

How do I set up my iPhone for the night?

Stand your iPhone sideways on the charger next to your bed, open Sunwake and tap “Good night”. Keep the app open and don’t lock your iPhone. Only then can Sunwake slowly brighten the screen in the morning. Your iPhone keeps charging.

Does the alarm ring even if the app is closed?

Yes. Every alarm you switch on is a real iPhone alarm. It rings at the set time, even if Sunwake was closed during the night or you never started “Good night”. The sunrise on the screen only appears while the app is open. When you set your first alarm, allow Sunwake to set alarms. If you declined, you can find the permission in the iOS Settings for Sunwake.

What happens after the free trial?

The trial lasts 7 days and ends by itself. Nothing is charged and there is nothing to cancel, because it is not a subscription. After that, the real sky and the Pro worlds such as Dunes and Mountains lock again. Alarm, sunset, starry night, sunrise and the Sea world keep working. If you want to keep Pro, you buy it once.

Why does Sunwake ask for my location?

Only for the real sky with Pro or during the trial: your approximate location goes to Apple Weather so that clouds, rain, snow, moon and season in the scene match where you are. Without it the sky stays clear and your alarm still rings. More in the privacy policy.

When are the event worlds available?

Event worlds appear by themselves in the alarm’s Landscape picker around their dates and disappear afterwards: Halloween from late October, Christmas and Snowy Hill from December. They are part of Sunwake Pro. On Halloween and on Christmas Eve the matching world is free for everyone. If a chosen event world is over, the Sea world runs that night.

How do I end the night?

In the morning, a tap ends the night and stops a ringing alarm. Before that, touch and hold the screen briefly and Sunwake asks “End the night?”. Your alarm stays on.

How do I restore my purchases?

Tap the gear at the top left, then “Restore Purchases”. On the purchase page you find “Restore” at the bottom. Use the same Apple Account you bought Sunwake Pro with. With Family Sharing, Pro also works for your family.

How do I get a refund?

Apple handles refunds for App Store purchases. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
